We have been gardening our little piece of dirt here for the past 10 years. Not very successful lots of the time, successful some and others so-so. I came across this book online, Straw Bale Gardening and ordered it and here you go. We planted this weekend and we are eagerly awaiting to see if it turns out well. Yes, the plant roots in the straw. The inside of the bale turn into compost with the conditioning you do. You can reuse the bales, too. After our broccoli and brussels sprouts are done we will put squash in their place and maybe melons. Check out the website!
I have never heard of this. You mean the plants root into the straw? Very interesting. That would be good where we are in NM. Thanks for the tip.
