Ahhhh...a break from the everyday

We had a quick trip to our favorite place in the world last week. New Mexico. Taos area to be exact. We had a great time and were able to kick back and just be. Here are a few shots...

Thankful

For quiet peaceful days like this. Wintry weather and the comfort of home. The sunset this evening was the perfect ending to a lovely day.

New Holiday Art Sale Rugs

Ta da! Here are a few interesting rugs. I could not figure out what to do with some bits and pieces and some off-color loopers I had, but then inspiration and all these late fall colors spurred a muddy color palette that turned out pretty well. It is hard to photograph these colors. They are very nice when I shoot them on the deck in the nice outside light, but when it transfers to the monitor it does not do them justice.

It Is Getting to Be That Time of Year Again..

The Block Street Holiday Art Sale that is. In just a few short weeks I will be selling my wares with 11 others at Mike Shirkey's Goodfolk Music House in Fayetteville Akansas. It is the 1st weekend of December. It is a really fun event and most of us involved work all year at getting our work ready for everyone to see.

Loopers are the rugs that sell best for me though my heart is really in the wool rugs and tapestries. I've gone in another direction this year to try to make things a little different from the usual. Here are the results so far.

So Long Chief Pilot...Blue Skies and Tailwinds

Our dog Nellie passed over to the other side this past Friday. She was an independent and feisty gal right up to the end. Nellie loved to fly with her human, my husband, Horst. She occasionally let him do the take offs and landings, but most often was seen at the controls on departure and arrival. She grudgingly put up with all the new critters I brought with me into our marriage and additional ones I added throughout the years. She was an artist at coordinated sleeping and was obviously the Master Sleeper as evidence will show in this string of pictures. The latest is her teaching the new cats how to get three on a couch. After Sallyrae passed on Nellie took over for a while as the massage dog and she was a lovely hostess though much more aloof than Sally. She brought joy and laughter into our house more than once with her mud covered "I didn't do it" look after her madcap adventures with woodchucks and the other dogs and the poor hapless creatures that inhabit our hillside. May your journey be smooth and the skies be clear dear girl. We will miss you so much and will never forget you little Fifinella.

Autumn At Last

Still warm though around here. Give me those down comforter nights and those New Mexico days. Looper rugs back on the loom for the December show and a peek at the latest runner with a bit of tapestry weave in it.

New Palettes Await

Here is the last runner almost completed. All that is left is the hand finishing work with the tapestry needle. The sunrise on Monday morning was behind the hill in a matter of minutes; not much drama in it kind of a slipping away. Bright colors again in a different combo. I have to try it all.

It's About Time

I have been terribly remiss in writing. Lots of things going on fiber overwhelms me and the sheer joy with the change of the seasons is keeping me away from the computer. Here are a few pics of what has been going on. Sunrises, flowers and grasses and new fruits of the loom.

September 7th, 2010

The new kids are growing up and into the delinquent stages. The Fall colors on this small rug make me pray for some cool Fall weather and I do not know what to tell you about these bright stripes. I have a new idea and I am in the middle of trying to make it work. new ways, new days and a new perspective. Groovy....

Coming Together

Morning Glory Take Over

It is a late summer morning glory takeover. They are even growing out to the tomato patch and up the castor beans. On my deck they have taken over the sage and basil planters, too.

Headed West

Headed to Sacramento in the morning to attend Master's Class in Bowenwork. Bowenwork is the kind of bodywork that I specialize in to help to pay bills and try to finance my weaving habit. Here are a few shots of my last trip there in 2008. It was so beautiful in Tahoe and really the area around the highway from Rocklin to Tahoe was gorgeous in it's own majestic big California way. Of course I had to get in a shot of the Tahoe airport up close and from a distance. It was a gorgeous day and a fantastic class. I probably won't make it to Tahoe this time, but I am happy that I got these shots the last time.
