Socks and Socks

I don't think I will be using Madeline Tosh yarns again for socks. I diligently used those tiny ones and knitted and knitted and knitted some more , but I don't have the look I want with this yarn. It is a beautiful color, but somehow it does not look like I want the socks to. Now this Opal is a treat; the color patterns will be interesting when I get farther along in the sock. This is fun. Why else knit socks? For fun and for love.

Spring Fever!

I have got it bad, Spring Fever that is. 72 yesterday and now today windy and already 60 something. Here are some more outdoor shots. My cilantro wintered over beautifully as you can see and new violets, hyacinths and lenten rose are going green and growing big.

Winter Again ,Hooray!

Well for a few short days they say, at least. We have had an unusually warm winter here where I live. I am getting antsy for Spring, and I know it is February, but it has not felt like it at all. A little snow is in our forecast and I am hoping it comes tonight and into tomorrow.

I had a productive day yesterday and here are the results of my efforts. I pulled another runner off of the new loom(her second) and I am loving it. The wool is hand spun by folks in New Mexico and the piece has a life of it's own, which I am happy about. I already have the next runner started out of the marvelous wool from The Mora Valley Spinning Mill and Tapetes de Lana. www.moravalleyspinningmill.com

The sky was wonderful the other evening and almost matched the runner so I had to put in in and show the marvelous colors. Life is good and the light is divine today so I had better get back to it.

New Project

New wool rug projects are in my head and now there is some wool on the bobbins to start the projects tomorrow.

January Is Sock Month(for me and Fibertwin)

Yikes! The month is almost gone and so much has happened this month I don't know where to begin. I did say it's January, well someone did not tell Mother Nature here in Northwest Arkansas. Jonquils are coming up and yes, those little red heads poking up are peonies. Peonies, in January? It is too, too soon.

Socks, socks and more socks. Here are some lovely sage socks knitted on #1's. I really love knitting on 1's. Madeline Tosh. Very nice yarn a little moody...and speaking of moody check out this great color called Morning Glory from Dream in Color. Fibertwin and I joked this weekend while knitting Dream in Color and Nightmare on Needles. Beautiful, wonderful yarn, but it is 8ply and a bit persnickety. Then last but not least good old Jitterbug, easy as pie to knit, nice combo here from the 2 skeins I had to buy to make a special pair last year. These socks will wake you up.

Last, but not least a bit of my new weaving in my studio with my dear friend's handspun, hand-dyed yarns from New Mexico. I woven 29 inches so far so just another 20 or so to go and I am already dreaming of the next one... Life is good!
